Eye Disease and Disorder

Eye Disease and Disorder

Vision loss refers to the partial or complete loss of eyesight, which can occur suddenly or progress gradually over time. Many factors influence eye health, including nutrition, aging, and diseases or disorders. The most common causes of vision loss include age-related vision loss, diabetes-related eye complications, cataracts, and glaucoma.

While each condition affects vision differently, and symptoms vary widely, our recovery modalities at Re-Gen can support visual health and contribute to an improved quality of life.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Hyperbaric Therapy has been shown to help with a range of eye conditions, including vision problems caused by diabetes, aging, and damage to the retina. In one study, people with diabetic eye issues saw noticeable improvements in their vision after 30 HBOT sessions. Another study found that 90% of participants with macular degeneration experienced better eyesight after just 20 sessions. People with retinal damage also showed a 40% improvement in their field of vision compared to those who didn’t receive HBOT. For those recovering from macular surgery, 20 sessions helped improve their visual results. And in cases of sudden vision loss from blocked blood flow in the eye, individuals who started HBOT early after onset of symptoms experienced better visual outcomes.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)

The use of PEMF in the treatment of eye disease and disorders has shown to improve blood circulation and repair nerve damage. In one study, just 15 minutes of daily PEMF for a week helped ease signs of common eye problems like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic-related vision issues. Another study found that after just four one-hour PEMF sessions, cell damage and clots were significantly reduced. In two separate studies, people who received 10 minutes of PEMF over 10 sessions saw a 10% improvement in eyesight and better blood circulation to the eyes; PEMF also improved the vision of individuals dealing with glaucoma. The same research even showed that PEMF helped shrink the size of cataracts, demonstrating to be a possible treatment strategy.

Targeted Nutritional Supplementation
At Re-Gen, we offer high-quality supplements designed to support healthy vision and help slow down the progression of certain eye conditions. Research shows that key nutrients like vitamins C and E (found in our Inflammation Blend), along with beta-carotene and zinc (found in our Heart Health and Bone Health blends), can lower the risk of advanced age-related vision loss. In fact, one study showed that these nutrients reduced the risk from 28% to 20% over five years in people who were in the intermediate stage of vision loss. Vitamins C and E also decrease stress in the eye, which improves blood vessel function, improves white blood cell function, and limits oxidative stress. The B vitamins (found in our Gut Health Blend), especially B1 and B3, decrease oxidative damage, protect the retina, and decrease the risk of open angle glaucoma. And lastly, Beta-Carotene (found in our Heart Health Blend) contributes to healthy corneal function and vascular health, which is important in eye health.
