Flexibility Training

Factors that Affect Flexibility

Many things, such as injury, disease, various conditions, surgery, poor posture, or aging, may decrease flexibility. However, individuals can work to gain greater flexibility, enjoying the health and wellness benefits it provides.

Some individuals tend to be more flexible than others. However, flexibility is something that everyone can work on enhancing. Overall, flexibility in our bodies is impacted significantly by an individual’s gender, age, genetics, body shape, and level of physical activity. For example, older or more sedentary (the less active) individuals will tend to be less flexible, leading to mobility issues and joint pain.

Benefits of Flexibility Training

Flexibility training is one way to enhance fitness and help individuals recover faster, and it plays a crucial role in fitness and recovery. Anyone can utilize this type of training at any age or stage of life. It offers a vast array of health and wellness benefits, including improved physical performance and mental relaxation.

Tight and restricted muscles keep joints from experiencing their full range of motion. In turn, this may lead to injury, poor coordination, and pain. Flexibility training is a proactive means to increase mobility, enhance muscle fitness, and aid recovery efforts. It offers many benefits, facilitating more effortless movements and greater strength, stability, and balance. Flexibility training provides individuals with various benefits, including the following:

  • Improved posture
  • Lower risk of injury
  • Reduced musculoskeletal pain
  • Increased blood flow to the muscles
  • Better balance and muscle coordination
  • Lowered cortisol levels
  • Increasing your physical fitness and performance

Flexibility Training at Re-Gen Fitness and Recovery

Typical stretching has several limitations, including the possibility that each limb can be stretched to a different range of motion and stretched for different amounts of time. The process of inadequate stretching leads to an imbalance of muscle flexibility, resulting in poor posture, musculoskeletal pain, and reduced balance and coordination, among other problems. For this reason, at Re-Gen Fitness and Recovery, we utilize the Free Flex, which stretches each limb at an equal range of motion for the same amount of time.

The Free Flex is a robotic stretching device that stretches many of the major muscles in the body, many of which would be challenging to stretch otherwise without Free Flex to assist you. It enables you to voluntarily reach your maximum range of motion and hold each stretch for 10, 20, or 30 seconds. It also allows for your progress to be tracked.
