GI Disorders

GI Disorders

Gastrointestinal disorders like Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and IBS, among others, are common health conditions accompanied by symptoms including pain, cramping, food sensitivity, diarrhea and fatigue. While surgery and medication may be necessary, there are alternative and complementary forms of treatment that can reduce these symptoms.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Extensive research has been conducted on hyperbaric oxygen and GI disorders, including ulcerative colitis, IBS and Crohn’s disease, among others. In one study, 7 one-hour HBOT sessions were able to reduce symptoms of IBS by 92%, compared to 67% if using only medication alone. In 3 different studies, 30 one-hour sessions were able to achieve clinical remission of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, with one study showing these results remained during an 18 month follow-up. In a final study of ulcerative colitis, 40 one-hour sessions were able to decrease stool frequency from 7 times/day to 1 time/day. These results have been shown to be in large part due to an HBOT-induced reduction in inflammation of the GI system, as well as an improvement in gut bacteria.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy(PEMF)

Although not as well researched, there are some indications that pulsed electromagnetic field therapy can improve symptoms of GI disorders. In one study, 7 one-hour PEMF sessions were able to improve food sensitivity by significantly reducing the number of reactive foods. Other studies have shown PEMF’s ability to reduce GI specific inflammation and decrease the presence of harmful gut bacteria linked to Crohn’s disease.

Targeted Nutritional Supplementation

At Re-Gen, we also utilize high quality nutritional supplements that have been shown to help reduce symptoms related to GI disorders. People with these disorders are at a greater risk for nutritional deficiencies, including deficiencies of important vitamins and minerals which can help GI health. Research has shown that B vitamins(found in our Gut Health/Weight Loss Blend), Vitamins C, E, glutathione, turmeric(found in our Antioxidant Blend) Vitamin D3, and Omega 3’s(found in our Healthy Aging Blend), among others, can reduce symptoms in those with GI conditions.

Exercise and Recovery

Exercise can be beneficial for gut health, as it’s been shown to improve gut activity, nutrient absorption, and the gut microbiome. However, it can also exacerbate symptoms of GI disorders if not done properly. This is why, at Re-Gen, we design custom exercise programs for each client and recommend combining these with our recovery services, which can help you to improve your health and reduce your symptoms.
