Infertility and IVF

Infertility and IVF

Infertility is a common problem that can affect men and women differently. In men, it typically results from a low number of sperm, or poor health or mobility of the sperm, although testosterone levels and other factors can play a part. In women, it can have various causes, both anatomical and physiological. Although some of the factors cannot be resolved by our services, many of them can be. At Re-Gen, we have some of the most successful therapies in helping to improve fertility rates, including:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

In women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), hyperbaric oxygen has a beneficial effect on implantation and pregnancy rates, as well as on ovarian response, which can lead to a higher number and maturity of developing eggs (oocytes). During IVF, HBOT is typically done on the first day of ovarian stimulation and finished after the 2nd day of embryo transfer, with numerous studies showing its benefits. For example, in one study, 10 HBOT sessions resulted in a 13% higher implantation rate and a 16% higher clinical pregnancy rate. In another, 20 sessions were able to significantly increase endometrial thickness and blood flow and increased clinical pregnancy rate by 27%. In a third study, 20 HBOT sessions were found to increase the number of mature oocytes, fertilized oocytes, and cleaved embryos, and increased clinical pregnancy rates by 20%. Research has also shown hyperbaric oxygen can benefit male fertility, as several studies have shown HBOT’s ability to double sperm counts, as well as to significantly improve sperm mobility and health. An additional study of 40 HBOT sessions also revealed its ability to improve erectile function and testosterone levels, along with sperm number, mobility, and health.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)

Research has also shown the potential of PEMF to improve the success rate of IVF, as several studies measuring the effects of 15-30 PEMF sessions have shown its ability to provide a 20-28% increase in pregnancy rates and a 20-33% increase in successful births. PEMF can also be effective in improving fertility rates in men, with 40 sessions having been shown in studies to increase sperm concentration, mobility, and viability.

Cryotherapy and Infrared Heat Therapy

Cryotherapy and infrared heat therapy have also been found to improve fertility in both women and men. In one study, 6 cryotherapy sessions resulted in a significantly increased ovarian reserve in women undergoing IVF, while another showed it was able to increase pregnancy rates by 24% in women undergoing FET. In men, studies have shown that 5-6 cryotherapy sessions were able to improve sperm count, mobility, and DNA integrity by 20-45%. Research has also revealed that regular infrared heat over 3 months can improve ovarian reserve in women and various sperm parameters in men.

Targeted Nutritional Supplementation

Infertility can also be treated through specific supplementation, particularly with the supplements in our “Healthy Aging Blend”: Omega 3s, Vitamin D, and the antioxidants CoQ10 and Beta Carotene. Research has shown that CoQ10 can improve ovarian reserve, increase the number of mature follicles, and improve pregnancy rates in women undergoing IVF, while in men it has been shown to improve sperm count, mobility, and health. Omega 3s can improve fertility by reducing inflammation and improving blood flow to reproductive organs, with studies showing its potential to improve sperm parameters in men and pregnancy rates in women. Studies have also shown Vitamin D levels are positively correlated with both male and female fertility. There are several nutrients in our “Antioxidant Blend” which also show promise in improving fertility rates, with many of the antioxidants having been shown to improve sperm parameters in men and pregnancy rates in women undergoing fertility treatments.

Guided Fitness and Flexibility Training

Exercise has been shown to improve the success of fertility treatments and can boost the beneficial effects of our recovery therapies. Flexibility is also important for a healthy pregnancy. However, without proper supervision and guidance, exercise can often lead to injury and pain. At Re-Gen, our fitness programs are custom to each client, designed by a physiologist, and constantly supervised by our trained fitness specialists, leading to positive results in health and flexibility with little to no risk of injury. Through these fitness and recovery programs, we can enhance your chances of getting and maintaining a pregnancy, while also improving your overall health.
