Hormone Imbalances

Hormone Imbalances

Hormone imbalances are common with age and can include difficult menopause transition, growth hormone deficiency, and low testosterone, which in turn lead to poor health and quality of life if left untreated. For instance, the testosterone levels of middle-aged males decrease by approximately 1% each year, leading to reduced muscle mass and strength, increased body fat, fatigue, depression, and decreased sex drive. For some women, the transition to menopause may come with a range of physical symptoms such as bone and tendon deterioration, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. However, your hormone levels can be improved, leading you to a more active and healthy life free of many of these symptoms. At Re-Gen, we offer several therapies that can improve hormone levels, including:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Hyperbaric oxygen has been shown to be beneficial for hormone health in both men and women. For instance, in one study, a single 60-minute HBOT session led to a significant increase in growth hormone levels . Another study found that 20 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy led to a significant increase in progesterone levels. Finally, a study examining the effects of HBOT revealed hyperbaric oxygen was able to significantly increase testosterone levels.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)

In a study focused on the effects of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy on human growth hormone, 12 30-minute PEMF sessions led to a significant increase in growth hormone levels compared to a control group. Another study showed that 10 days of PEMF could result in a significant increase in progesterone levels. Research has also shown that PEMF can improve testosterone levels.

Cryotherapy and Infrared Heat Therapy

A study of 5 cryotherapy sessions revealed a small increase in testosterone levels. A study investigating the effects of infrared sauna use on reproductive hormone levels in men found that regular sauna use led to a significant increase in testosterone levels. A second study investigated the effects of a single session of infrared sauna on hormone levels in males resulted in a significant increase in growth hormone levels. A study of 20 sauna sessions in women found that the women had a significant increase in progesterone levels, improvements in their menstrual cycles with a decrease in cycle length, and an increase in the number of ovulatory cycles.

Targeted Nutritional Supplementation

At Re-Gen, we also provide high-quality nutritional supplements that have been shown to improve hormone levels. Studies have shown that amino acids (found in our Gut Health/Weight Loss Blend), whey protein (found in our Muscle Building and Recovery Blend) as well as Vitamin D and Omega-3s (found in our Healthy Aging Blend), among other vitamins offered here, can help increase and regulate testosterone and other important hormones.

Exercise and Recovery

Exercise can be difficult when you are experiencing hormone imbalances, but it’s also important to improve your health and physical function during this time. For this reason, at Re-Gen we utilize custom exercise programs with constant supervision to improve your health and physical abilities while also taking into account where you are on your health journey. Exercise alone has been shown to be able to improve hormone function, however recovery therapies are often helpful in conjunction with exercise, and in fact we have seen that the combination of exercise and our recovery is a powerful tool for addressing many of the symptoms of hormone imbalances.
